Invisalign Dentist in Covina, CA

Many individuals with crooked teeth spend years with a mouth full of metal braces, making it hard to smile or maintain self-confidence. The good news is that Covina Invisalign provider Covina Family Dental has a solution for patients who want straighter teeth without highly visible metal braces: Invisalign.

Invisalign straightening system uses a series of custom, clear trays (“aligners”) to move teeth into place over time. The best part? Most people cannot tell when Invisalign patients are straightening their teeth!

How Invisalign Works

Invisalign offers Covina patients a fresh way to straighten teeth without the hassle of metal braces. Dr. Kiran Mistry or Dr. Priti Mistry will create a custom set of clear trays, called aligners, made just for the patient. The aligners are made of nearly invisible plastic that the patient slips on over the teeth.

Wearing the aligners as directed by Drs. Hatae and Patil will gradually move teeth into proper place. Invisalign patients do not need to worry about attaching metal brackets or tightening any wires, as they would with traditional braces. Instead, they just click in a new set of aligners about every two weeks. Patients continue this process until their teeth are straight and their smile is wide.

Because Invisalign aligners can be removed, patients can eat without the difficulties that metal braces cause. In contrast to traditional braces, Invisalign’s modern teeth-straightening system offers patients a gorgeous smile with far less bother. Covina porcelain veneers patients can even use Invisalign.

What to Expect During Treatment

The dentists at Covina Family Dental begin by taking dental X-Rays, photos and molds of a patient’s teeth. The Invisalign system uses these tools to generate a three-dimensional digital image of the patient’s teeth, as well as the patient’s custom aligners. Dr. Kiran Mistry and Dr. Priti Mistry use the digital image to map out a treatment plan for each patient, as well as provide a digital simulation of how the patient’s teeth will progress over time.

The Invisalign aligners are made of BPA-free plastic that does not usually irritate the cheeks or gums like traditional braces can. Patients wear the aligners for 20 to 22 hours each day, removing them to eat, or to brush and floss their teeth. The teeth gradually move into place as the patient progresses through each set of aligners.

Invisalign patients have check-ups about every six weeks, or as directed by Dr. Kiran Mistry or Dr. Priti Mistry. Treatment generally takes about one year for adults. For teens, the treatment time is similar to that of traditional braces. It is important to note that these are general guidelines only; total treatment time varies from person to person.

Am I Good Candidate for Invisalign?

Individuals who are interested in Invisalign will meet with Dr. Kiran Mistry or Dr. Priti Mistry for an initial consultation. During this meeting, the dentist will review the patient’s oral anatomy and goals for teeth straightening, and will establish if Invisalign is right for the patient.

At-Home Care for Invisalign

When removing their aligners, patients should brush them with toothpaste and cool water. (Hot liquids can warp aligners.) They are also instructed to brush and floss their teeth twice a day, as usual, while their aligners are out. Patients should avoid drinking colored or hot liquids while their aligners are in place. And, it is better not to wrap aligners in paper napkins or anything similar, as someone may accidentally throw out the aligners.
